What Is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that uses leverage and applied pressure to control your opponent. This allows a smaller weaker individual to defend themselves against a much larger, stronger attacker. It has been shown to be one of the most effective forms of self-defence on the planet.
However, Jiu Jitsu is about more than just self-defence and competition. Competition isn’t mandatory at all– in fact, it’s something that many students never do at all. Many of our students are there to gain fitness, lose weight, develop self-confidence, or have fun. However, if competition is more your speed, we have classes targeted at that as well.
